Kraken activate Jared McCann from injured reserve

The Seattle Kraken are getting reinforcements back from injured reserve, as the team has activated forward Jared McCann in advance of Wednesday night’s game against the Dallas Stars at Climate Pledge Arena.
McCann has not appeared in a game since the first five contests of this season, and the talented forward was off to a strong start from a production standpoint, with three goals and an assist in five games.
Kraken head coach Lane Lambert told team radio host Mike Benton after the morning skate that McCann was still a game-time decision for Wednesday night, but that the situation was trending positively.

In a corresponding move, the team announced they have assigned Oscar Fisker Mølgaard to their AHL affiliate Coachella Valley. Mølgaard appeared in two games with the Kraken this season, recording one assist.
McCann is in the midst of his fifth season as a member of the Kraken, and he has racked up at least 20 goals in each of the prior four. He set a career-high with 40 in the 2022-23 campaign that was the only year in which the team made the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
The veteran forward’s return to the lineup promises to inject some much-needed scoring skill into the Kraken’s roster, as the team ranks 29th in the NHL so far this season in goals scored per game with 2.59.
Despite some offensive struggles, the Kraken have fared quite well in the first quarter of the season, as their 11-5-6 record is good enough to have them in second place in a tightly-packed Pacific Division, just one point back of the Anaheim Ducks for first place.
Seattle has a quick two-game homestand that starts with Dallas Wednesday night and ends with Edmonton on Saturday night before the Kraken hit the road for the second half of a back-to-back against the Oilers. Seattle will then have another run of three straight at home.
