Seattle Kraken sign first player in team history, Luke Henman
The Seattle Kraken have their first player.

The club announced Wednesday that 21-year-old center Luke Henman was signed to a three-year level-contract.

“I am super-excited and honored,” Henman told the Kraken “I have a belief in my game. My main focus will be to put in the work to get better.”

In a statement, Kraken general manager Ron Francis said team scouts have been watching Henman all year long.

“Luke has put up the numbers in the ‘Q’ and he is team captain,” said Francis. “He has solid character. We do think he needs to get stronger. We are excited to sign him as our first player.

“He’s still a little bit light, but he thinks the game well and has the skating and hockey skills we like when scouting players.”

Standing at 6’0″, 168 lbs., Henman has appeared in 225 QMJHL games with Blainville-Boisbriand Armada over the last five season scoring 63 goals and 214 points.
