Seattle Kraken sign forward Tucker Robertson to entry-level deal

The Seattle Kraken have signed forward Tucker Robertson to a three-year, entry-level contract worth $870,000.

Seattle drafted Robertson as an overage player in 2022, taking him with the 123rd pick in the team’s second draft.

Robertson has been one of the most dominant OHLers in recent years, scoring 36 goals and 90 points this season. He also had 41 goals and 81 points a year ago, making him one of the best overage prospects at the time.

Now 20, Robertson had a mammoth playoff run en route to an OHL title with the Peterborough Petes. He had nine goals and 22 points in 23 games to finish as one of the top players, helping the team advance to the Memorial Cup. Robertson had another three points in five games before the Petes were eventually knocked out.

Robertson could return to Peterborough for an overage season, but a full-time gig with the AHL’s Coachella Valley Firebirds seems more likely. The Firebirds just lost the Calder Cup in their first season, but should still remain competitive thanks to Seattle’s strong prospect pool.

The Seattle Kraken qualified for the second round of the playoffs for the first time in franchise history after beating the defending Stanley Cup champions, the Colorado Avalanche. Seattle lost to Dallas in the second round, but it still marked a successful sophomore campaign for a team most expected to miss the playoffs.
