The Seattle Kraken have signed undrafted OHL forward Logan Morrison to a three-year, entry-level contract, the club announced Tuesday afternoon.

Morrison, 20, split the 2022–23 Ontario Hockey League regular season between the Hamilton Bulldogs and Ottawa 67’s, collecting 40 goals and 94 points in just 56 games.

The Guelph, Ont. product added seven goals and 10 points in five games as the 67’s defeated the Oshawa Generals in the first round of the 2023 OHL Playoffs. Morrison and the 67’s are scheduled to play Game 1 of their second round series against the Peterborough Petes on Apr. 14.

Morrison made his OHL debut with the Bulldogs during the 2018–19 season and ultimately spent parts of four seasons with the team. The six-foot center lost out on the 2020–21 campaign due to COVID-19 but came back with a vengeance in 2021–22, scoring 34 goals and 100 points in 60 games.

Despite scoring 273 points in 222 career games with Hamilton and Ottawa, Morrison went undrafted into the NHL. He joins a top-heavy Seattle system that boasts one of the best teams in the American Hockey League and a legit blue-chip prospect in Shane Wright.

There’s a chance Morrison could join the AHL’s Coachella Valley Firebirds for their playoff run after the end of his OHL season with the 67’s. Beyond that, he’ll likely be a regular with the Firebirds in 2023–24.

On the NHL side, the Kraken currently sit fourth in the Pacific Division with a 46–26–8 record and 100 points in 80 games. They’ll return to action on Tuesday to take on the Vegas Golden Knights in a potential playoff preview matchup.
