Torrent’s Aneta Tejralova suspended two games for hit on Sirens’ Sarah Fillier

A hefty penalty for the actions of one of the game’s better blueliners.
On Wednesday, the PWHL Player Safety Committee announced that Seattle Torrent defender Aneta Tejralová has been suspended for two games for an illegal check to the head on New York Sirens forward Sarah Fillier.
The incident came during the Takeover Tour game in Dallas this past Sunday. Just past the halfway mark of the first period, Tejralová threw a blindside hit on Fillier, who was trying to collect a pass in the neutral zone, catching Fillier in the side of the head, knocking the Team Canada star to the ice.
The hit spawned a brief melee between the two American teams, with Fillier being able to get off the ice under her own power. She was able to return to the game. Tejralová was handed a five-minute major penalty for a check to the head and a game misconduct. The hit came moments after Fillier had thrown a hit of her own toward Tejralová, with the Czech rearguard clearly taking exception with the retaliatory hit.
Here is the hit on Aneta Tejralová by Sarah Fillier, behind the play, that caused the retaliation by Tejralová. Apologies that I don't have a better angle, this was all the broadcast showed.
Sorry, missed the note: the initial hit was ON Aneta Tejralová. She got her revenge, but it will result in a five-minute major PLUS a game misconduct for a check to the head. Seattle down to six D, as Lyndie Lobdell WAS the 7th dressed. #SeattleTorrent #PWHL #SeattleSports
New York was unable to cash in on the five-minute power play, but managed to come back and win the game, 4-3, thanks to Casey O’Brien’s first PWHL hat trick.
This is the first time Tejralová has faced supplemental discipline in her time in the PWHL. It’s also the first suspension of the 2025-26 season.
The 29-year-old won’t be eligible to return to the lineup until Jan. 11, when Seattle visits the Minnesota Frost. The next time the Sirens and Torrent will face off won’t be until March 25 in the Emerald City.
In five games this season, Tejralová has registered an assist, that coming on Dec. 21 against the Boston Fleet. She has a plus/minus of +3 while averaging over 15 minutes of ice time per game.
The Torrent (3-0-1-3) sits fifth in the PWHL. They are next in action on Saturday afternoon, when they take on the Toronto Sceptres in another Takeover game, this time in Hamilton, Ont.
