Bobrovsky recently completed a seven-year deal with the Florida Panthers worth $10 million per season. It was the biggest deal ever given by the team at the time, with the two-time Vezina Trophy winner being the top netminder on the market.
It was a tough start in Florida, with many wondering if he’d ever live up to his end of the contract. Despite early struggles in South Florida, Bobrovsky backstopped the franchise to its first-ever titles in 2024 and 2025, playing some of his best hockey during that time.
Undrafted out of Novokuznetsk, Russia, Bobrovsky debuted with the Philadelphia Flyers in 2010 before becoming a star with Columbus. He was never able to lead the team to glory, but did set a personal best with 41 wins in 2016-17 en route to his second Vezina Trophy. Bobrovsky was also named a Hart Trophy finalist that season as one of the top players in the entire NHL.
Bobrovsky boasts a career record of 456-266-58 with 53 shutouts through 806 games over 16 seasons. Internationally, Bobrovsky also took home gold at the 2014 IIHF World Championship, silver in 2015 and bronze the following year.
The Leafs already had Anthony Stolarz ($3.75 million), Dennis Hildeby ($842,000) and Artur Akhtyamov ($900,000) under contract after trading Joseph Woll away earlier this summer. Toronto is looking to get back into the playoffs after finishing near the bottom in 2025-26, allowing them to draft Gavin McKenna first overall at the 2026 NHL Draft last week.
Other notable goalies on the market today include Frederik Andersen, Cam Talbot, Connor Ingram, Matt Murray and Eric Comrie.
