Sharks place forward Evander Kane on waivers

The San Jose Sharks have placed forward Evander Kane on waivers.
The news was first reported by the Mercury News’ Curtis Pashelka. He will reportedly be assigned to the Sharks’ AHL affiliate, the San Jose Barracuda.
Kane, 30, has been mired in controversy this season with the NHL handing down a 21-game suspension, one that ends after Sunday when the Sharks play their 21st game of the season.

He reportedly used falsified COVID-19 documents, something illegal in both Canada and the United States, as well as a direct violation of the league’s COVID policies.
Kane was cleared in a gambling investigation in which it was alleged he bet on NHL games.
According to CHEK News’ Rick Dhaliwal, Kane recently hired a new agent in Dan Milstein, who is reportedly reaching out to teams trying to facilitate a trade. Dhaliwal also reported that the Sharks are willing to eat 50% of the forwards salary in a deal.
Kane led the Sharks last year with 22 goals and 49 points and has three years remaining on his contract paying him an AAV of $7-million.
