There was once a time when Vancouver Canucks were giddy with excitement about the prospect of Dahlen and Elias Pettersson playing together on a line for the Canucks.

Playing on a line together for Timra of the Hockey Allsvenskan in Sweden, the two tallied over 40 points each while playing on a line together in 2016-17, and had undeniable chemistry.

Unfortunately, Dahlen didn’t develop the way the Canucks had hoped he would in the AHL, and they eventually cut bait, acquiring Linus Karlsson in return.

He finished the 2018-19 campaign with the San Jose Barracuda, tallying four points in seven games before returning to Timra. In 2019-20, Dahlen scored 36 goals and added 41 assists through 51 games.

This past season, Dahlen scored at a similar rate, finding the back of the net 25 times and adding 46 helpers through 45 games.

If Dahlen’s success from overseas can translate into being a productive middle-six forward at the NHL level, then the Sharks will be absolutely ecstatic.
