The St. Louis Blues have agreed to terms on a two-year, two-way contract extension with goaltender Georgii Romanov, the club announced Friday afternoon.

Romanov, 26, posted a 9-12-3 record, one shutout, and an .896 save percentage in 28 games with the AHL’s Springfield Thunderbirds in the 2025-26 regular season. He proceeded to go 7-4 with two shutouts and a .939 save percentage in 11 games with the Thunderbirds in the 2026 Calder Cup Playoffs.

The Blues did not disclose any of the terms of Romanov’s contract, aside from the duration and two-way status, but PuckPedia reported Friday that Romanov will earn an average of $875,000 in the NHL and $600,000 in the AHL. The 6’4″ goaltender would have been an RFA at the expiry of his current contract; he’ll be a 28-year-old UFA when his new deal expires in 2028.

An undrafted player, Romanov first made his way to North America in 2023, signing a two-year, entry-level contract with the San Jose Sharks. He appeared in the ECHL, AHL, and NHL over his two years in the San Jose organization, posting an 0-6-0 record and an .888 save percentage over 10 appearances with the Sharks.

The Sharks did not tender Romanov a qualifying offer as a pending RFA when his entry-level contract expired. The Yekaterinburg, Russia product subsequently signed a one-year deal with the Blues at the conclusion of their 2025 training camp before clearing waivers and reporting to Springfield, where he shared the crease with Vadim Zherenko and Will Cranley.

After re-signing both Romanov and Cranley to new contracts this week, the Blues now have four goaltenders under contract for the 2026-27 season, with the other two being Jordan Binnington and Joel Hofer; Zherenko is a pending Group 6 unrestricted free agent.

Through 78 career AHL games over parts of three seasons split between the Thunderbirds and San Jose Barracuda, Romanov has posted a 29-27-17 record, one shutout, and a .902 save percentage.
