Blues injury news: Jordan Kyrou out week-to-week

One of the top players on the St. Louis Blues roster is going to miss more time than expected.
On Tuesday, the team announced that forward Jordan Kyrou is out week-to-week with a lower-body injury.

Head coach Jim Montgomery stated that further analysis proves that Kyrou’s injury isn’t as bad as it could’ve been.
“It’s kind of what we thought it would be. We’re happy with the results of the MRI, considering it could have been longer,” Montgomery said to the media. “We know it’s at least a week and we’re labeling it week-to-week right now.”
Kyrou was hurt during the Blues’ game this past Saturday night against the Ottawa Senators. He needed help leaving the ice in the first period after getting hit along the boards by Senators forward Stephen Halliday.
The 27-year-old missed his team’s game on Sunday against the Montreal Canadiens, which saw the Blues manage to pull out a 4-3 win.
If Montgomery’s prognosis holds, Kyrou will be out for some important Central Division battles with the Chicago Blackhawks and Winnipeg Jets in the coming days. If the Toronto native remains out for an extended period of time, St. Louis could be without one of its top scorers when it heads to the Sunshine State for matchups with the defending Stanley Cup champions, the Florida Panthers, and Tampa Bay Lightning later this month.
Kyrou has missed just two games thus far, scoring eight goals and eight assists for 16 points. He currently sits third on the team in scoring, trailing only Robert Thomas and Dylan Holloway.
The Blues (11-12-7) are seventh in the Central, two points out of a Wild Card spot in the Western Conference. They are set to host the Boston Bruins on Tuesday night.
