The St. Louis Blues are open for business

The St. Louis Blues have been one of the bigger disappointments through the first two months of the NHL season. With a record of 11-13-7, the Blues are seventh in the Central Division and have five teams separating them from the second wild card spot in the Western Conference.
General manager Doug Armstrong is in his last season in the role before turning the reins over to former Blues winger Alexander Steen. In his last year at the helm throughout the NHL’s trade deadline season, Armstrong will have the chance to set Steen up with some solid assets for the future.
Winger Jordan Kyrou has plenty of term but has had his name in trade conversations for some time. Depth forwards who are pending unrestricted free agents like Mathieu Joseph, Alexei Toropchenko and Oskar Sundqvist could be of interest to contenders, too.
On Thursday’s episode of Daily Faceoff LIVE, host Tyler Yaremchuk and co-host and former NHL goaltender Carter Hutton were joined by NHL insider David Pagnotta to discuss the intriguing players St. Louis could make available down the stretch.
Carter Hutton: Now St. Louis was that playoff time last year, and I feel like they’re a team that’s on the outside… This is at team that I think a lot of people are waiting for, like what are they?
David Pagnotta: They’re battling a lot of injuries… but this is a team that’s trying to sure up some depth pieces. It’s no secret they’re open for business, and it’s the usual suspects. We know about Brayden Schenn; we know about Justin Faulk, those guys that have a year left on their contract… There’s some juggling that can be done there, but they have guys on expiring contracts, whether it’s Oskar Sundqvist. They’ve got other pieces as well… Joseph’s another… some depth pieces that they’re willing to listen on along with guys that have term on their contract. Kyrou has certainly been a popular one.
