The St. Louis Blues announced on Monday morning that center Pius Suter will be sidelined for a period of approximately four weeks with an injury to his right ankle.

After the four weeks is up, Suter will be re-evaluated, according to general Manager Doug Armstrong. Suter suffered the injury when the Blues won a divisional showdown against Nashville on Saturday night.

With Suter sidelined, the Blues will roll with Robert Thomas, Brayden Schenn, Dalibor Dvorsky and Oskar Sundqvist down the middle. While no member of the Blues has yet to reach the 30-point mark, they have seven forwards who have at least 15 points, as their depth up front has allowed them to overcome some other issues throughout the roster.

Suter, who signed a two-year contract with an average annual value of $4.125 million to join the Blues in free agency, has 7 goals, 7 assists and 14 points in 37 games played.

The Swiss center has had previous stints with Chicago, Detroit and Vancouver, and in 401 career regular season appearances, he’s compiled 89 goals and 87 assists for 176 points. He also added 3 points in 13 games in his lone Stanley Cup Playoff appearance with the 2023-24 Canucks.

Through 39 games, the Blues own a 15-16-8 record, currently placing them fifth in the Central Division, though just four points separate the fifth through eighth teams in the Central.

With much of the bottom half of the Western Conference struggling, St. Louis is just one point behind San Jose for the second wild card spot in the conference.

The Blues have won three of their past five contests to work their way back into the race, and they host the Buffalo Sabres on Monday night with games on deck against Colorado, Vegas and Montreal to close out the week.
