A couple of key members of the St. Louis Blues are going to be out of action on Monday night.

When speaking to the media, head coach Jim Montgomery revealed that forwards Robert Thomas and Jake Neighbours will not be in the lineup when the Blues take on the Pittsburgh Penguins, and both are considered day-to-day.

Thomas suffered an upper-body injury during St. Louis’ matchup with the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday night. His last shift came early in the third period, when the Blues were hanging on to a 4-3 lead. The team ended up squandering the cushion, losing 6-4 to its former Central Division rivals.

Thomas had two assists in the game, registering 12:21 of ice time across 17 shifts. Both of his assists came on goals from Neighbours, which helped the Blues build up a 4-0 lead.

Through eight games, Thomas has been one of the team’s more notable offensive players, notching a goal and five assists for six points. The former London Knight currently sits tied on the team in scoring, while leading the group in helpers. He had picked up points in three straight games before the injury.

Thomas has posted 80 points in back-to-back seasons with St. Louis, including a career-high 86 during the 2023-24 season.

Neighbours, who’s reportedly ailing from a lower-body injury, leads the team with six goals through the team’s first eight games of the season. His seven points are also just ahead of rookie Jimmy Snuggerud, and fellow forwards Pavel Buchnevich and Jordan Kyrou. Including Saturday’s performance, Neighbours has a pair of multi-goal games already this season.

The Blues (3-4-1) are also going to be back home on Tuesday night, hosting the Red Wings.
