The St. Louis Blues have locked up another one of their draft picks.

On Friday, general manager Doug Armstrong announced that the team has signed defenseman Colin Ralph to a three-year, entry-level contract that will kick in next season.

The financial details of the deal have yet to be released, but he is eligible for a maximum average annual value of $975,000 based on his draft year, according to the current Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Ralph, 20, was selected by the Blues in the second round of the 2024 NHL Entry Draft. The Maple Grove, Minnesota native had his college season end on March 28th when his Michigan State Spartans lost in overtime to the Wisconsin Badgers by a score of 4-3 in the Worcester Regional Final of the NCAA Division I men’s hockey tournament. He will report to the AHL’s Springfield Thunderbirds on a professional tryout for the remainder of this season.

In 37 games for Michigan State this season, Ralph had a goal and 10 assists for 11 points. Last season, he played collegiately for St. Cloud State, where he notched a goal and seven assists for eight points in 35 games.

Ralph also played for the United States at the 2025 World Junior Championships, where he registered an assist in seven games en route to a gold medal.

Standing at 6’4″ and weighing 210 pounds, Ralph was ranked as St. Louis’ eighth-best prospect by Daily Faceoff’s prospect analyst Steven Ellis last offseason. Ellis noted that “Ralph is a projectable defender who’s hard to beat due to how mobile he is with his big frame. He’s got all the tools to become a physically strong offensive defenseman with good hockey IQ.”

With 74 points through 74 games, the Blues sit in second last place in the Central Division.

St. Louis will play the Anaheim Ducks on Friday before finishing a four-game road trip against the Colorado Avalanche on Sunday.
