St. Louis Blues sign head coach Craig Berube to three-year extension

The St. Louis Blues have locked up head coach Craig Berube for three more years, the club announced Wednesday.
Berube, 56, took over as the Blues’ head coach on Nov. 19, 2018 and has amassed a 133-72-30 record, leading the club to their first Stanley Cup championship that year.
“I’ve enjoyed working with (General Manager) Doug Armstrong and (Chairman) Tom Stillman, working with the coaching staff and training staff and all the players we have here,” Berube told stlouisblues.com in a statement. “Why would I want to go anywhere else? I love it here.
“I came in here four years ago and we’ve had great success here. We have a chance to win again. I think that Doug does everything he can to put a winning team on the ice, and as a coach, I think that’s a great thing.”
The fresh deal will keep Berube behind the bench through the 2024-25 season. While they’ve been unable to replicate a modem of their success in that Cup run year, the Blues currently sit fourth in a tightly packed Central Division scoring the ninth-most goals in the league, while allowing the 5th fewest.
Berube and Armstrong will hold a press conference Thursday morning at 10 a.m. CST that can be viewed live on stlouisblues.com.
