In a press release, the team said Snuggerud “will join the Blues for practice on Monday at Centene Community Ice Center.”
Daily Faceoff writer Tyler Kuehl said this about Snuggerud on Friday:
“Snuggerud has been one of the most talented players in college hockey throughout his tenure with the Gophers,” Kuehl wrote. “After bursting onto the scene with 50 points in 40 games during his freshman campaign, in which Minnesota made it all the way to the national championship game, the 23rd overall pick in the 2022 NHL Draft posted a career-high 51 points this season. He ended up second among Big Ten skaters in scoring, earning a spot as a top-10 finalist for the Hobey Baker Award.”
According to Kuehl, Blues’ General Manager and President of Hockey Operations Doug Armstrong flew to Fargo, N.D., to see Snuggerud play on Thursday, when the Golden Gophers were eliminated by the UMass Minutemen.
Following the loss, Daily Faceoff hockey insider Frank Seravalli reported a number of the team’s players who are NHL draft picks could sign entry-level contracts with their pro clubs, including Snuggerud.
UMass shocks the Golden Gophers, who coughed up a 3-1 third period lead. Certainly possible there’s an exodus to turn pro out of Minnesota, including: Jimmy Snuggerud #stlblues Sam Rinzel #Blackhawks Oliver Moore #Blackhawks Ryan Chesley #allcaps Matt Wood #preds and perhaps
The Blues are the NHL’s hottest club, going 14-2-2 in their last 18 games, posting an .833 points percentage during that span. They currently have 85 points and are holding on to the second Wild Card spot in the Western Conference.
