Steven Stamkos sets Tampa Bay Lightning franchise record for all-time points

Steven Stamkos has helped lead the Tampa Bay Lightning to back-to-back Stanley Cups, and now he also leads the franchise in all-time points.

Stamkos set the record in Thursday night’s game against the Toronto Maple Leafs when he scored on the power play to make it 3-0 in the game. The achievement was quickly recognized in the arena with a tribute video and a standing ovation. His parents had managed to make it to the game to see him set the record.

Stamkos went into the game tied with Martin St. Louis in all-time scoring for the Lightning with 953 points, although Stamkos did it in 56 fewer games. He’s also held the all-time franchise lead in goals since the 2018-19 season, and is third in the franchise’s history in assists, 110 behind St. Louis. He’s a bit further behind in franchise playoff scoring, as he currently sits fifth, 55 points behind current teammate Nikita Kucherov.

Stamkos is continuing to put up the points even at 32, as he has 33 goals and 87 points in 75 games this season. He leads the team in points, and sits 16th in the league, helping the Lightning to their fifth straight playoff appearance, and eighth in nine seasons.
