A couple of key injuries for a team already riddled with notable omissions.

When speaking to the media, Tampa Bay Lightning head coach Jon Cooper revealed that forward Brayden Point and defenseman Erik Cernak will not be in the lineup when the team takes on the Philadelphia Flyers on Monday night.

Cooper stated that Cernak is out week-to-week, but his injury is unrelated to the lower-body injury that kept him out of action for the Lightning’s wins over the New Jersey Devils and Edmonton Oilers last week. Cooper didn’t have a clear timeline for Point, but more or less stated that the veteran center is questionable for Wednesday night’s clash with the Calgary Flames.

The new ailments only add to the laundry list of key players the Lightning are missing. Forward Nikita Kucherov is listed as day-to-day, with captain Victor Hedman on injured reserve. Point and Kucherov both left Saturday’s game against the Washington Capitals due to their injuries.

Point appeared in Tampa’s first 21 games of the season, having scored three goals and eight assists for 11 points, and is one of six players on the roster to have reached double digits this year so far. He only registered 11:29 of ice time in the team’s 5-3 victory over the Capitals two days ago.

In 19 games this season, Cernak has registered four assists, including picking up an assist against Washington. The Slovakian rearguard has a plus/minus of zero while averaging 19:19 of ice time per game.
