Lightning’s Brayden Point leaves game vs. Flyers with injury

The Tampa Bay Lightning announced that forward Brayden Point left Monday’s game against the Philadelphia Flyers after he suffered an injury and would not return.

The injury occurred five minutes into the second period. While on the power play, a scramble in front of the Flyers’ net led to Point banging in a loose puck and giving Tampa a 3-0 lead. However, the Lightning forward fell awkwardly and immediately reached for his knee. He stayed down on the ice and needed the help of his teammates to get back to the locker room.

Going into Monday night, Point had 10 goals and 19 assists for 29 points in 36 games with the Lightning in 2025-26. Now in his 10th NHL season, the Calgary native has 316 goals and 348 assists for 664 points in 693 career regular-season games, all with Tampa.
Point scored a career-high 51 goals in 2022-23, and has reached the 90-point mark three times in his career, most recently in 2023-24.
Point, a third-round pick in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft, also has 44 goals and 45 assists for 89 points in 92 career playoff games, and was a major contributor for the Lightning during their two Stanley Cup championships in 2020 and 2021.
In parts of five seasons playing for the Western Hockey League’s Moose Jaw Warriors, Point recorded 134 goals and 190 assists for 324 points in 252 career games.
Going into Monday night, the Lightning were 27-13-3 with 57 points, second in the Atlantic Division. They have won nine straight games and have a goal differential of plus-39.
