The Tampa Bay Lightning announced on Tuesday that general manager Julien BriseBois and the team have agreed to terms with forward Tristan Allard on a two-year, entry-level contract.

Allard, a 23-year-old native of Renfrew, Ontario, was an undrafted free agent who signed an AHL-only contract with the Syracuse Crunch in 2023.

In his 45 appearances with the Crunch this season, Allard tallied 7 goals and 9 assists for 16 points.

The Crunch finished the 2024-2025 season with a record of 37-23-8-4, and the team fell in the first round of the Calder Cup playoffs after an impressive regular season. Allard was held without a point in the team’s three playoff contests.

For Tampa Bay, the official addition of Allard to the organization ensures that he will be able to continue to help out in Syracuse while also providing a depth option if injuries require.

The Lightning are looking to return to Stanley Cup contender status once again in 2025-2026. The team posted a sterling regular season record of 47-27-8, taking second place in the Atlantic Division.

However, for the third year in a row, Tampa Bay’s season came to an end in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs, this time at the hands of the eventual Stanley cup champion Florida Panthers, who ousted the Bolts in five games.

With this deal finalized as well as the one given out to Gage Goncalves earlier, the Lightning’s roster continues to take shape. The team now has 12 forwards, 6 defensemen and 2 goaltenders signed to NHL contracts and still has a bit over $4 million in cap space, according to PuckPedia, to add depth and make further additions if general manager Julien BriseBois so chooses.

The team has no unsigned restricted free agents, and defenseman Nick Perbix is likely to be the lone significant departure in unrestricted free agency.
