McDavid jokes about how many ‘millions in fines’ Marchand-Bennett-Wilson line have

Connor McDavid is not ignorant of the reputations some of his Canadian men’s hockey Olympic teammates have.
Speaking with reporters on Saturday, one day ahead of the gold medal game between Canada and the United States, McDavid discussed the forward line comprised of Brad Marchand, Sam Bennett and Tom Wilson.
“It’s pretty funny to see them all together,” McDavid said. “I don’t know how many millions in fines they’ve contributed all together as a line.”

The Marchand-Bennett-Wilson line delivered plenty of bodychecks against Finland in their semifinal matchup on Friday, which ended in a 3-2 victory for Canada, thanks to a Nathan MacKinnon goal with 35.2 seconds left in regulation.
So far in the tournament, Marchand has one assist, Bennett has one assist and Wilson has a goal and three assists for four points.

During Canada’s 10-2 win against France, Wilson fought French defenseman Pierre Crinon. Wilson delivered a hit on Crinon behind the French net, and the two would drop their gloves and exchange a few shots.

Between the three gritty forwards, they have more than 3,500 combined penalty minutes, nearly half of which come from Wilson alone.
In terms of suspensions, Marchand has been suspended eight times for a total of 28 regular-saeason games, the longest coming in February 2022 for roughing/high-sticking goaltender Tristan Jarry. Bennet has been suspended twice for a total of four games, while Wilson has been suspended six times for a total of 37 regular-season games — including a 20-game suspension in 2018 that was reduced to 14 on appeal — three playoff games and two preseason games.
