Denmark unveils jerseys for 2026 Winter Olympics hockey tournament

The Danish ice hockey federation has unveiled the jerseys its national men’s hockey team will wear at the upcoming 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan, Italy.

Team Denmark will compete in the men’s ice hockey tournament as part of Group C, alongside Latvia, Germany, and the United States. The Danes were one of the final teams to qualify for for the 2026 Olympics, doing so alongside Slovakia, Latvia, and France through play-in tournaments held in August and September of 2024.

The jerseys feature Denmark’s traditional lion crest, emblazoned in red, white, and black, centered over a black chest stripe with a thick border and a zig-zag pattern. The jersey numbers are located on the shoulders instead of near the elbows, creating a sharp and distinctive look.

The preliminary round at the 2026 Winter Olympics men’s ice hockey tournament is scheduled to begin on February 11, six days after the start of the women’s tournament. The men’s tournament will conclude with the gold medal game on February 22.

Team Denmark previously took part in the men’s tournament at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, albeit without NHL player participation. The Danes finished seventh in that tournament, losing 3-1 to the Russian Olympic Committee team in the quarterfinals.

The 2026 tournament will mark the second Olympics appearance for the Danish men’s ice hockey team. The women’s team will not take part at the 2026 Games after previously making their first-ever appearance in 2022.

Lars Eller, Nikolaj Ehlers, Oliver Bjorkstrand, and Fredrik Andersen will almost certainly be the main focal points for Team Denmark when it hits the ice for the first time in Milan this coming February — provided that the arena is completed in time.

Eller, 36, captained the Danes in the qualifiers and is widely expected to wear the ‘C’ once again in Milan. The veteran center has six points in 26 games with the Ottawa Senators this season.
