On Wednesday, USA Hockey announced the assistant coaches and support staff for the U.S. Men’s Olympic Team set to compete at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan, Italy.

Serving under head coach Mike Sullivan will be his assistant coach with the New York Rangers, David Quinn, along with Minnesota Wild head coach John Hynes and former NHL head coach John Tortorella.

The trio also worked under Sullivan this past February at the 4 Nations Face-Off. The group guided the Americans to the championship in the first-ever event, ultimately losing to Canada in a thrilling overtime game.

The quartet has been part of the U.S. national program for several years. Sullivan has been a head coach and assistant for the senior national team five times. Hynes has served as a head coach at the IIHF World Junior Championship and IIHF Men’s World Championship, as well as an assistant for Team USA at the 2016 World Cup of Hockey. Quinn was the head coach of the U.S. at the 2022 Winter Olympics, along with two Men’s Worlds. Tortorella was the head coach for the Americans at the World Cup nine years ago.

Los Angeles Kings goalie coach Mike Buckley will reprise his role with the national team, while Mike King (Ottawa Senators) and Madison Nikkel (Pittsburgh Penguins) are also back on board as video coaches.

U.S. general manager Bill Guerin acknowledges that the group Team USA is bringing to the upcoming games is exceptional.

“We’re extremely fortunate to have a tremendous staff,” Guerin said in a release. “Everyone is extremely proud to represent our country and focused on our collective effort to bring home a gold medal to the United States.”

The men’s ice hockey tournament at the 2026 Winter Games will officially get underway on Wednesday, Feb. 11, with the U.S. not playing until the following day, opening up Group C action against Latvia. The Americans are seeking their first Olympic medal in the men’s tournament since taking home the silver medal from Vancouver in 2010, and their first gold since the famous Miracle on Ice in 1980.
