The Buffalo Sabres have named Don Granato head coach

The Buffalo Sabres have decided on their next head coach — the guy who was right there all along.
General manager Kevyn Adams has announced the team will drop Don Granato’s interim tag and make him the full-team head coach moving forward.

Granato has an extensive resume of coaching history, ranging from the USHL, AHL, NCAA, and United States Development Program. He was an assistant coach for the Chicago Blackhawks but joined the Sabres organization after Joel Quenneville was fired by the organization.
Granato served as an assistant coach on the Sabres in 2019-20 and in 2021 and was named interim head coach when Ralph Kreuger was let go. The team went 9-16-3 under his watch.
Since firing long-time coach Lindy Ruff back in 2013, the Sabres have had six different coaches: Ron Rolston, Ted Nolan, Dan Bylsma, Phil Housley, Kreuger, and Granato. The team hasn’t made the playoffs since 2011.
