On Friday’s edition of The Daily Faceoff Show, Tyler Yaremchuk and Frank Seravalli took a look at some interesting stats from the 2021-22 season…

Seravalli guessed that Brady Tkachuk having the most penalties in the league was the lie, but it was actually Thatcher Demko having faced the most shots. Demko is third in the league in shots faced with 1,229, while Connor Hellebyuck ranks first with 1,330 shots faced.

Seravalli guessed that the Trevor Zegras fact was a lie, but it was actually Gabriel Landeskog, who doesn’t lead the league in empty-net goals. Four players have five empty-net goals: Connor McDavid, Andrei Svechnikov, Kyle Connor, and Landeskog. Alex Ovechkin leads the league with seven empty-net goals this season.

The Capitals’ power-play ranks 25th in the league this season. Over the past two years, Washington’s power-play ranked ninth in the NHL.
Edmonton’s power-play was tops in the league at 37.7 percent after two months of play, 8.2 percent clear of second place. From Dec. 1 onwards, they’re all the way down at 22nd in the NHL.
