The DFO Prospect Show – Ep. 6: Ryan Ufko
Jun 27, 2021, 13:41 EDT

Ryan Ufko is the first of three players from the USHL winning Chicago Steel roster to join Liam Horrobin on The Daily Faceoff Prospect Show.
Ufko had a terrific second season, with the Steel coming close to quintupling his point total from his rookie season. In 53 games, the Smithtown, New York, native scored ten points and 39 points – the most by a defenceman on the Steel.
The 2020-21 season was Ufko’s final with the Steel as he is committed to the University of Massachusetts – Amherst Minutemen for next year. The minutemen have done a great job turning their players into NHL talents, including Cale Makar, who is now one of the elite players in the league. That was one of the biggest reasons why Ufko committed to UMass.
Ufko is currently ranked 43rd amongst North American Skaters by NHL Central Scouting as he hopes to become one of the next Minutemen to make it to the top.
In the interview, Liam and Ufko discuss the mentality of the Steel franchise and what led to all their success. Along with that, they also spoke about Ufko’s development and which high NHL prospect helped him out in his first year in Chicago.
All that and more on episode six of the Daily Faceoff Prospect Show.
