It looks like it might be time for a change of scenery for one of the Philadelphia Flyers’ longest-serving veterans, @Jakub Voracek.

According to Elliotte Friedman, Voracek has reportedly been told by the team that he’ll be left unprotected in the upcoming Seattle Kraken Expansion Draft…

The Flyers have a difficult situation when it comes to putting together their protection list given the long list of forwards they have to consider.

Both @Claude Giroux and @Kevin Hayes have no-movement clauses, so that occupies two of seven spots. @Sean Couturier and @Travis Konecny are also easy choices, so we’re down to three spots for @Jakub Voracek, @James van Riemsdyk, @Scott Laughton, @Oskar Lindblom, and @Nolan Patrick.

Voracek scored 43 points in 2021, which was tied for the team lead with Giroux and van Riemsdyk, but he’s turning 32 years old in August and has a heavy cap hit of $8,250,000 annually for three more seasons. It appears as though the Flyers are instead going to prioritize keeping younger players, such as Lindblom or Patrick. That said, there’s no guarantee that Seattle will be interested in taking on such a large contract.
