The Panthers’ endurance has been a challenge for the Rangers

The Florida Panthers scored in overtime to win 3-2 in Game 4 of their Eastern Conference Finals series with the New York Rangers, tying the series at 2-2.
With Game 5 Thursday in New York, one thing that’s stood out is how it never looks like the Panthers are being outplayed. Whether it was against the Tampa Bay Lightning, Boston Bruins or now the Rangers, Florida’s ability to play a well-rounded game right to the final whistle has been a key attribute to their success.
On Thursday’s episode of Daily Faceoff LIVE, Frank Seravalli and Tyler Yaremchuk are joined by Daily Faceoff columnist Jonny Lazarus to discuss the Panthers’ endurance and how it’s played a factor in their third-round series.
Tyler Yaremchuk: When you look at the way the Panthers have controlled their share of shots and attempts in the series, is there anything that they’ve been doing that’s surprised you or maybe surprised the Rangers?
Jonny Lazarus: I don’t know if you guys are seeing this in the different conference finals, but Florida’s endurance and the shape they’re in: they’re a team that never looks tired. Panthers’ defenseman Gustav Forsling is bionic, and he’s playing well over 20 minutes a night. Nothing gets by the guy, he’s built like a brick house.
That’s what the Panthers are. Their motor is just non-stop, it’s going and going. When have you made the Rangers made Florida look tired? Even the previous two series against the Bruins or the Lightning, I can’t think of a game where the Panthers were heavily outplayed.
The conditioning of this club, how difficult their training camp was that sets the standard for their season, it’s pretty remarkable how good of shape these guys are in.
