The Suitcase and The Scribe – Ep. 23: The Playoff Picture + First Edition of the Fan Mailbag

Welcome to another episode of The Suitcase & The Scribe with Mike McKenna and Scott Burnside.

The biggest news from the week doesn’t revolve around sports, but rather the Russians’ invasion of Ukraine which has trickled into the sporting world with potential problems for the athletes. Mike and Scott gave their thoughts on the IIHF banning Russia and Belarus from major international tournaments and the possibility of banning players from the NHL.

They also jumped in the comments made by Alex Ovechkin and Dominik Hasek.

From there, the guys dove into some NHL talk, and the first topic on the list was Kyle Davidson as the new General Manager of the Chicago Blackhawks.

Looking at the standings, the playoff race is still ultimately alive in the Eastern Conference. The Columbus Blue Jackets continue to pressure while the Washington Capitals keep dropping games.

Another big question in the western conference is the fate of the Vegas Golden Knights. What are their chances of playing the postseason with all the injuries they’ve had? Then you also have the Winnipeg Jets and Anaheim Ducks still hoping to keep their playoff dreams alive.
