Mike McKenna and Scott Burnside were joined by one of the newest members of the Tampa Bay Lightning, Nick Paul, on this week’s episode of The Suitcase and The Scribe.
Paul told Mike and Scott about his journey to the NHL through the Senators organization and the strong support system around him. Now with the Lightning, he mentioned the differences between the two franchises and what he hopes to contribute to the lineup. Finally, he touched on his community work in Ottawa and hoped to continue what he started.
After their talk with Paul ended, Mike and Scott dove into the news around the National Hockey League, starting with the Colorado Avalanche.
Nathan MacKinnon is out of the Avalanches lineup for the foreseeable future after fighting with Matt Dumba. The guys briefly discussed if a star player like MacKinnon needed to drop the gloves. With MacKinnon out, it’s a massive blow to the Colorado lineup and could’ve been avoided.
The NHL General Managers meetings are happening right now in Florida, and it’s been reported that there will be changes to No Trade Lists. This all occurs after what happened with Evgenii Dadonov. Mike’s a big fan of this and goes on to explain why.
They also discussed the Vegas Golden Knights, Toronto Maple Leafs, and Ottawa Senators.
