The Wild drafted Greenway with the No. 50 overall pick in the 2015 NHL Draft. After spending three seasons with Boston University, Greenway made his NHL debut with Minnesota in 2018-19.
Since then, Greenway has developed into a quality two-way forward for the Wild. Last season, he set a career-high with 32 points over the course of 56 games and he led the team with 26 assists.
So far in 2021-22, Greenway has 13 points through 33 games along with a very impressive on-ice goal differential of 23-to-11.
Greenway was set to become a restricted free agent for the second time in his career at the end of the season. He’ll be an unrestricted free agent when this deal comes to an end following the 2024-25 season.
The Wild have two more important restricted free agents to deal with, as Kevin Fiala and goaltender Kaapo Kahkonen’s contracts expire at the end of this season. Minnesota will also have to deal with an added challenge this offseason as the buyout penalties for Zach Parise and Ryan Suter jump from $4,743,588 combined to $12,743,588.
