A few players have hit the wire, including a player who has been in the news quite a bit.

On Wednesday, Los Angeles Kings goaltender Pheonix Copley, Utah Mammoth forward Andrew Agozzino and New York Islanders forward Marc Gatcomb were put on waivers.

It has been an eventful month for Copley. After coming into the 2025-26 season with a fresh one-year contract that he signed back in June, he was placed on waivers a few days before the regular season, only to be claimed by the Tampa Bay Lightning. However, just a couple of weeks later, and after not playing in any games, Copley was traded back to the Kings for future considerations.

Despite being back on the L.A. roster, the 33-year-old has yet to see any game action this season. If he were to clear waivers on Thursday, he could be assigned to the Kings’ American Hockey League affiliate, the Ontario Reign, with whom Copley spent most of the 2024-25 season.

In 42 games with Ontario, the former Michigan Tech netminder posted a 24-17-1 record, with a 2.49 goals-against average, a .904 save percentage and two shutouts. His last NHL appearance came in relief against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Oct. 16, 2024.

Agozzino played in Mammoth’s first two games of the season, but hasn’t seen any action since. It was his first bit of NHL experience since the 2022-23 season, when he was a member of the San Jose Sharks. He spent the entirety of the 2024-25 campaign with Utah’s top farm team, the Tucson Roadrunners, scoring 20 goals and 23 assists for 43 points in 55 games.

The Kleinburg, Ont. native is in the final season of his two-year contract, which carries an NHL cap hit of $775,000.

Gatcomb’s lone appearance with the Islanders came on Oct. 11 against the Washington Capitals. He registered 8:33 of ice time, with a shot on goal and seven hits, in a 4-2 loss to the defending Metropolitan Division champions. The Woburn, Mass. native played in 40 games for the Isles last season, scoring eight goals and an assist for nine points.

Gatcomb re-signed with the Islanders this past July, agreeing to a one-year contract with a $900,000 cap hit.
