Guerrero Jr. was seen wearing a Marie-Philip Poulin Team Canada sweater, looking to channel the championship pedigree of the greatest women’s hockey player of all-time.
It’s the second time Guerrero Jr. has worn the jersey of a popular hockey player ahead of a series-deciding Game 7. Before facing the Seattle Mariners in the ALCS, he wore an Auston Matthews Toronto Maple Leafs sweater. The Blue Jays won the game 4-3.
Poulin, a native of Quebec City, is one of the most decorated hockey players in history, winning three Olympic gold medals and four World Championships.
She earned the nickname “Captain Clutch” after recording both of Canada’s goals in a 2-0 win over the U.S. at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics, as well as scoring both the game-tying and game-winning goal against the Americans at the 2014 Sochi Olympics.
Poulin currently serves as the captain of the PWHL’s Montreal Victoire, and won the league’s Billie Jean King Most Valuable Player Award in 2024-25. She also has two CWHL Clarkson Cup championships and is a three-time CWHL Jayna Effort Most Outstanding Player Trophy winner.
As for Guerrero Jr., the Blue Jays’ first baseman finished the 2025 season with 23 home runs, 84 runs batted in (RBI), a .292 batting average with an on-base + slugging percentage (OPS) of .848 in 156 games.
Guerrero Jr. has been one of baseball’s best athletes through the postseason, batting .412 with a 1.330 OPS, hitting eight home runs and 15 RBIs. Guerrero Jr. also has 13 walks and only six strikeouts in 17 games.
The Blue Jays are hoping to win their first World Series championship since 1993.
