Toronto Maple Leafs acquire Ben Hutton; Nashville Predators acquire Erik Gudbranson


A few depth move made ahead of the deadline have seen the Toronto Maple Leafs acquire Ben Hutton and the Nashville Predators acquire Erik Gudbranson.
Hutton, 27, has appeared in 34 games for the Anaheim Ducks this year scoring one goal and five points. Hutton is a UFA after this season and carries a cap hit of $950,000.
According to hockeyviz.com, at even-strength Hutton provides offence at a four percent rate above league average and defence at a four percent rate worse than league average.
Gudbranson, 29, is now on his sixth NHL team and has appeared in 36 games with the Ottawa Senators this year. Known for his defensive prowess, he’s scored one goal and three points in 36 games this season. He carries a $4-million cap hit and is a UFA at the end of the season.
According to hockyvi.com, at even-strength he provides offence at a five percent rate worse than league average and defence at an eight percent rate worse than league average.
Toronto also dealt Alexander Barbanov to the San Jose Sharks for Antti Suomela.
