Toronto Maple Leafs acquire Jared McCann

The Toronto Maple Leafs have acquired forward Jared McCann from the Pittsburgh Penguins.
First reported by Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman, McCann was acquired for Filip Hallander and a 7th round pick.
McCann, 25, has spent the last three seasons with the Penguins. Over his six-year, 353 game career, he’s scored 66 goals and 155 points and is known for being a very effective depth player largely playing in a third-line role.
According to Hockeyviz.com, he provided even-strength offence at a three percent rate above league average and defence at an eight percent rate above league average.
Hallander, meanwhile, rejoins the Penguins organization. The 21-year-old was originally drafted by them in the second round of the 2018 draft and was acquired by the Leafs last August. He’s yet to appear in any games in North America.
