Toronto Maple Leafs center Connor Dewar is sidelined day-to-day with an upper-body injury, head coach Craig Berube told David Alter of The Hockey News on Tuesday.

Through 29 appearances with the Maple Leafs this season, Dewar has recorded three assists with a minus-two rating while averaging 10:07 in ice time.

Dewar missed the first 14 games of the 2024-25 season following offseason shoulder surgery, then spent a conditioning stint with the AHL’s Toronto Marlies, a lone appearance in which he tallied one goal and one assist en route to a 4-2 final versus the Cleveland Monsters, the Columbus Blue Jackets’ farm club.

Acquired from the Minnesota Wild prior to last season’s trade deadline, Dewar split 2023-24 between the Wild and Maple Leafs where through 74 total appearances he notched 11 goals and eight assists for 19 points. The 25-year-old Manitoban then added one assist through six showings in the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs. A veteran of 219 career contests, Dewar has registered 19 goals and 27 assists for 46 points with the Wild and Maple Leafs.

In July, the Maple Leafs inked Dewar to a one-year extension that carries a $1.18-million annual average value, per PuckPedia. Dewar can become a restricted free agent in July.

A graduate of the WHL’s Everett Silvertips, Dewar was originally chosen by Minnesota in the third round of the 2018 NHL Draft. In his final junior season, Dewar was recognized as part of the WHL’s Western Conference First All-Star Team after he headlined the Silvertips with 81 points in 59 outings.

On the season, the Maple Leafs sit atop the Atlantic Division with a 30-16-2 record, five points ahead of the defending Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers. Riding a three-game win streak, the Maple Leafs will try for their fourth-straight victory when they retake the ice Wednesday against the Blue Jackets.
