The Toronto Maple Leafs brass held an end-of-season press conference and Brendan Shanahan provided injury updates on Auston Matthews, William Nylander, Joseph Woll, Connor Dewar and Bobby McMann.

According to Shanahan, Matthews got very sick during the Round 2 series against the Boston Bruins and then suffered a hit in Game 4 that “presented head-related injury issues” before he was cleared for Game 7. Matthews registered one goal and four points in five Stanley Cup Playoff contests

Shanahan also accounted that McMann suffered an MCL sprain and the team thought he would be available for the second round of the playoffs. McMann had 15 goals and 24 points in 56 games this season.

Nylander spoke on his migraines earlier this week and Shanahan further addressed that confirming that was the issue at hand. Nylander had three goals in four playoff contests.

Dewar will undergo shoulder surgery today, the 24-year-old had one assist in six playoff contests and tallied five points in 17 games as a Maple Leaf after being acquired at the trade deadline from the Minnesota Wild. Dewar is a restricted free agent with arbitration rights.

Meanwhile, Woll sprained his back at the end of Game 6 against the Bruins. Woll compiled a 2-0-0 record a 0.86 goals against average and a .964 save percentage in three Stanley Cup Playoff starts.
