Tuukka Rask to have hip surgery and likely won’t return to action until January or February 2022

Soon-to-be free agent goaltender @Tuukka Rask confirmed on Friday that he’ll have off-season surgery to repair a torn labrum in his hip.
Rask said that he’s mentally up for a return to action but whether he does or not will ultimately come down to where he’s at physically following the surgery. He said that if all goes well, January or February would be a realistic timetable for his return to play.
Despite playing through a torn labrum in his hip, Rask had a solid season for the Bruins. He posted a .913 save percentage in the regular season and then put up a .919 save percentage in 11 playoff games.
Rask will be a free agent this summer as the eight-year, $56,000,000 deal he signed back in 2013 is coming to an end. Rask said that he isn’t interested in testing free agency and that if he does return to the NHL, it’ll be with the Bruins, the team he’s spent his entire career with.
I’m not going to play for anybody else but the Bruins,” Rask said. “This is our home. We have three kids with friends in school. I don’t see any reason to go anywhere else at this point in my career.”
