Sebrango started the 2025-26 season with the Senators, having played in two of the team’s first three games. He registered a -1 plus/minus in the team’s season opener against the Tampa Bay Lightning last Thursday, before being held off the scoresheet this past Saturday against the defending Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers.
The Ottawa native has already matched the most NHL games played in a single season, reaching the mark he set with the Sens last year. In four career appearances with his hometown team, Sebrango has a -2 rating while averaging 12:46 of ice time.
The former Detroit Red Wings prospect spent the majority of the past two seasons with the Belleville Senators, Ottawa’s primary affiliate. Last year, he set career highs in goals (8), assists (12) and points (20). In 227 AHL games, both regular-season and playoffs, Sebrango has scored 15 goals and 33 assists for 48 points.
Sebrango re-signed with the Sens last month, agreeing to a one-year, two-way contract.
Afanasyev has been on the Sharks’ roster so far, but didn’t appear in the team’s overtime losses to the Vegas Golden Knights and Anaheim Ducks.
The 24-year-old also signed a one-year deal prior to this season, signing a one-year, $800,000 contract with the Sharks back in May. It brought the Russian winger back to North America after spending the 2024-25 campaign in the Kontinental Hockey League with CKSA Moscow. Afanasyev had spent three years in the Nashville Predators organization, mostly playing with their AHL club, the Milwaukee Admirals.
In 19 NHL games, Afanasyev has scored just one goal. In 223 AHL apperances, he has posted 62 goals and 71 assists for 133 points.
