Two players placed on NHL waivers for Oct. 23

A couple of NHL blueliners have just become available.
On Friday, the Minnesota Wild placed defenseman Daemon Hunt on waivers, while the Winnipeg Jets placed defenseman Jack St. Ivany on waivers.
Both players are now available to be claimed by any of the other 31 NHL teams. If they clear waivers, they’ll be eligible to be assigned to the American Hockey League (AHL).
Hunt, 24, has played in all 11 games for the Wild this season, going scoreless while averaging just over 14 minutes of ice time. In 32 games for Minnesota last season, the Brandon, Manitoba native had no goals and six assists while averaging about 12 and a half minutes of ice time. He also contributed no goals and an assist over five playoff games for the Wild.
The 6’1″, left-shot defenseman was selected by Minnesota in the third round of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft. He is known as a solid skater with good puck-moving ability.
St. Ivany, 27, has no points in four games played with the Jets this season, while averaging about 13 and a half minutes of ice time.
Winnipeg acquired St. Ivany from the Pittsburgh Penguins this past offseason in exchange for forward David Gustafsson.
The Manhatten Beach, California native played 20 games for Pittsburgh last season, registering no goals and seven assists while averaging about 16 and a half minutes of ice time.
Selected by the Philadelphia Flyers in the fourth round of the 2018 Draft, St. Ivany did not sign an entry-level deal with the Flyers and instead signed with the Penguins following his four-year collegiate career split between Yale University and Boston College.
St. Ivany is a right-shot defenseman that stands at 6’4″, and is known for his size, reach, and physical play best suited for a bottom-pairing role.
