Tyson Jost to attend Predators training camp on PTO
Unrestricted free agent center Tyson Jost will attend the Nashville Predators‘ 2026 training camp on a professional tryout opportunity (PTO), PuckPedia reported Tuesday afternoon.
Jost, 28, spent the entirety of the 2025-26 season with the Predators, collecting eight goals and 16 points in 69 games while playing in a bottom-six role. The 5’11”, left-handed forward also racked up 30 penalty minutes and posted a minus-21 rating with Nashville while averaging 12:25 of ice time per game.
The Predators originally claimed Jost off waivers from the Carolina Hurricanes at the start of the 2025-26 regular season. Jost previously split the 2024-25 season between Carolina and the AHL’s Chicago Wolves.
A first-round pick (No. 10 overall) of the Colorado Avalanche in the 2016 NHL Draft, Jost played his first post-draft season at the University of North Dakota before signing his first pro contract with the Avalanche.
Jost began his NHL career with parts of six seasons in Colorado, topping out with 26 points in 70 games with the Avs in 2018-19. Near the end of the 2021-22 season, the Avalanche traded Jost to the Minnesota Wild in exchange for Nico Sturm, who would go on to win the Stanley Cup with Colorado later that year.
Meanwhile, Jost spent a total of eight months with the Wild, appearing in 33 games, before being waived and claimed by the Buffalo Sabres midway through the 2022-23 season. The Sabres ultimately demoted Jost to the AHL during the 2023-24 season and subsequently allowed him to sign with the Hurricanes in the 2024 UFA period.
In 564 career NHL games over parts of 10 seasons with the Avalanche, Wild, Sabres, Hurricanes, and Predators, Jost has collected 69 goals and 165 points. The St. Albert, Alta. product has added six goals and 10 points in 46 playoff contests with Colorado and Minnesota.
