USA Hockey re-elects Mike Trimboli as president

The leader of the United States of America’s ice hockey governing body is sticking around.
During the USA Hockey Congress Meeting in Denver this past Saturday, Mike Trimboli was unanimously re-elected to a second term, three-year term, as the organization’s president. The announcement came at the end of the annual four-day meeting.
“I’m humbled to continue to serve this great organization,” Trimboli said. “I’d like to thank our Congress for its confidence in me, and it is with much optimism that I look forward to the future. It is always inspiring to see the passion and dedication that shines through during our Annual Meeting. We are so fortunate to have a collaborative environment with volunteers from across the country, our staff and other constituent groups working together as a team to drive the continued growth and evolution of the game.”
Over the past year, USA Hockey reported participation numbers grew by almost 1.5 percent, with a total of 564,468 players registered across the country, 389,820 of them being at the youth level. Coaches and officials saw record numbers, as 64,280 coaches (a 4.14 percent increase) and 31,125 officials (up 9.87 percent) were under the USA Hockey banner.
Trimboli was originally elected in June 2021, succeeding Jim Smith, who also served two terms as USA Hockey president. Trimboli was the vice president alongside Smith and chair of the governing body’s marketing council in 2017.
Trimboli previously served on the board of directors as director of the New York District since 2005. Over the last nearly two decades, the Massena, N.Y. native has served as a director representative to the executive committee, equity and inclusion task force, junior council, player development committee and diversity.
During the Congress last week, Keith Barrett was also re-elected as vice president and Youth Council Chair.
