— Utah Hockey Club (@utahhockeyclub) October 23, 2024The call-up comes as UHC realizes it will be without top D-men Sean Durzi and John Marino for the next few months. It leaves a big hole on the blue line, with Lamoureux expected to step in and play some noticeable minutes.
It has not been specified when the 20-year-old will officially make his debut, but many are expecting it to be sometime this week.
Many are excited to see what Lamoureux brings to the NHL. At 6 feet 7 inches and weighing over 210 pounds, his physical stature makes him an imposing figure. He also has a knack for creating chances on the offensive end.
The Laval, Quebec native was originally taken by the organization in the first round, 29th overall, of the 2022 NHL Draft–when the team was known as the Arizona Coyotes. Lamoureux then spent the past two seasons finishing his junior hockey career with the Drummondville Voltigeurs of the Quebec Maritime Junior Hockey League. Lamoureux had a career year in 2023-24, scoring nine goals and 24 assists for 33 points. He ended his career in the ‘Q’ with 19 goals and 64 assists for 83 points in 152 appearances, including another seven points in 16 playoff games.
In his first season in pro hockey, Lamoureux has played four games for the Roadrunners, scoring two goals and an assist and having a plus/minus of zero.
Lamoureux made his first notable appearance on the international stage last year with Team Canada at the 2024 IIHF World Junior Championship. In five games, he scored a goal and three points as the Canadians were eliminated in the quarterfinals.
Utah (4-2-1) is scheduled to host the Colorado Avalanche on Thursday night. UHC currently has the fourth-best winning percentage (.643) in the Central Division.
