The Utah Hockey Club has announced that they have signed defenseman Terrell Goldsmith to a three-year, entry-level contract.

Goldsmith was originally selected No. 102 overall in the 2023 NHL Draft by the Arizona Coyotes.

He attended Utah Hockey Club’s 2024 rookie development camp back in July and again was with the club in September.

Goldsmith is currently playing for the Tri-City Americans in the Western Hockey League (WHL) and has appeared in four games, picking up nine penalty minutes, which includes one fight. Goldsmith was traded from the Prince Albert Raiders to Tri-City during the summer in a deal that saw Seattle Kraken prospect Lukas Dragicevic go to the Raiders in a five-player swap.

During the 2023-24 season, the Fort St. James, British Columbia native racked up 15 points and 122 penalty minutes in 66 games. Goldsmith was one of the players who led the league in fighting majors.

The hard-nosed defenseman is always looking to make contact and throw big hits, “I’m a big, physical defenseman that’s hard to play against,” Goldman said. “I think I make a good first pass. I focus a lot on my defense but I think I can add some more offense to my game as well.”

Throughout his career, Goldsmith has racked up 10 goals and 20 assists for 30 points in 189 games, to go with a whopping 287 penalty minutes. He has added one assist in seven WHL playoff contests.

You can watch Goldsmith in action this weekend as his Tri-City Americans face the Kelowna Rockets on Saturday and the Portland Winterhawks on Sunday.
