Mammoth’s Ian Cole, Canucks’ Tyler Myers each fined $2,500

The National Hockey League’s Department of Player Safety fined both Utah Mammoth defenseman Ian Cole and Vancouver Canucks’ defenseman Tyler Myers $2,500 for incidents from their respective Saturday games.

Cole, 36, got dinged for what the department called a “dangerous trip” against Nashville Predators’ forward Steven Stamkos.

As for Myers, 35, he was fined for slashing Edmonton Oilers’ captain Connor McDavid.

The Mammoth defeated the Predators 3-2, while the Oilers defeated the Canucks 3-1.

Cole, a native of Ann Arbor, Mich., is entering his 16th NHL season. Through 910 regular-season games, he has 35 goals and 175 assists for 210 points with the Mammoth, Canucks, Tampa Bay Lightning, Carolina Hurricanes, Minnesota Wild, Colorado Avalanche, Columbus Blue Jackets, Pittsburgh Penguins and St. Louis Blues.

Cole has also played in 129 playoff games, scoring three goals and 28 assists for 31 points. He won two Stanley Cup championships with the Penguins in 2016 and 2017.

As for Myers, the 6-foot-8 defender has played in 1,068 games, scoring 99 goals and recording 296 assists for 395 points with the Canucks, Winnipeg Jets and Buffalo Sabres. He’s also appeared in 61 playoff games, scoring seven goals and nine assists for 16 points.

Utah is off to a 1-1-0 start to the 2025-26 regular season, while the Predators have posted a 1-0-1 record through two games.
