The Utah Mammoth have re-signed unrestricted free agent center Kevin Stenlund to a one-year contract, Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported Wednesday afternoon.

According to Friedman, Stenlund’s new contract with Utah carries a $2.75 million cap hit, representing a modest increase over his previous $2 million average annual salary.

Stenlund, 29, skated in 80 games with the Mammoth during the 2025-26 regular season, collecting four goals and 18 points. The 6’3″ center added one goal in six games with Utah in the 2026 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

The Columbus Blue Jackets originally selected Stenlund in the second round (No. 58 overall) of the 2015 NHL Draft. The Stockholm product came up through the HV71 system in his native Sweden before coming to North America in 2018.

Stenlund began his career with parts of four seasons in Columbus, emerging as a capable bottom-six checking forward. In 2022, the Blue Jackets allowed him to hit free agency, where he signed with the Winnipeg Jets for one season; the following year, he joined the Florida Panthers, with whom he cemented himself as an everyday NHLer. Stenlund scored 11 goals and 15 points in 81 games with the Panthers in the 2023-24 season and added one assist in 24 playoff contests while helping the club win its first Stanley Cup championship.

As a free agent from the Panthers in 2024, Stenlund signed with the newly relocated Utah Hockey Club. He set career highs with 14 goals and 28 points in 82 games with Utah in 2024-25 and kept his role on the team’s fourth line in 2025-26.

In 368 career NHL games over parts of eight seasons with Columbus, Winnipeg, Florida, and Utah, Stenlund has collected 46 goals, 90 points, and 168 penalty minutes. He’s added three goals and four points in 37 playoff contests with the four clubs.
