Mammoth’s Cooley, McBain, Hayton out day-to-day

Utah Mammoth forwards Logan Cooley, Barrett Hayton and Jack McBain will be out day to day, according to head coach Andre Tourigny.

The news comes one day after Cooley was injured on a hit by Colorado Avalanche defenseman Zakhar Bardakov in the third period of Sunday’s preseason game between the two teams.
Later in the game, Bardakov fought Crouse in response to the hit.

In 2024-25, Cooley scored 25 goals and recorded 40 assists for 65 points in 75 regular-season games. Through two NHL seasons, the 2022 No. 3 overall pick has 45 goals and 64 assists for 109 points in 157 career games.
Hayton, 25, recorded 20 goals and 26 assists for 46 points in 82 regular-season games last season. Through six NHL seasons, the 2018 No. 5 overall pick has 55 goals and 75 assists for 130 points in 291 career regular-season games.
As for McBain, 25, he finished the 2024-25 campaign with 13 goals and 14 assists for 27 points and 78 penalty minutes. In four NHL seasons, the 2018 third-round pick has 35 goals and 47 assists for 82 points and 198 penalty minutes in 241 career regular-season games.
Utah finished last season with a 38-31-13 record and 89 points, finishing sixth in the Central Division and falling seven points shy of a Wild Card spot in the Western Conference.
Captain Clayton Keller led the team in all offensive categories, scoring 30 goals and recording 60 assists for 90 points. Through nine NHL seasons, the 2016 No. 7 overall pick has 196 goals and 312 assists for 508 points in 601 career regular-season games.
