The Utah Mammoth announced Monday they have signed forward Jack McBain to a five-year, $21.25 million contract that will pay him an annual average value (AAV) of $4.25 million and keep him with the team through the 2029-30 season.

In 2024-25, McBain scored 13 goals and added 14 assists for 27 points and 78 penalty minutes in 82 regular-season games. He finished the season with 291 hits and eight fighting majors, finishing sixth and tied for seventh in the NHL, respectively.

“(McBain) is a big, strong, physical player who competes hard on a nightly basis and brings a gritty toughness to our group,” Mammoth General Manager Bill Armstrong said in a press release. “Jack is an important part of the championship-caliber team we are building, and we look forward to having him back on our roster for the foreseeable future.”

Through four NHL seasons, the Toronto, Ont., native has 35 goals and 47 assists for 82 points and 198 penalty minutes in 241 career regular-season games.

Mammoth President of Hockey Operations Chris Armstrong says the commitment from both sides for this deal “tells you everything you need to know about the value and importance that has been placed on winning together.”

“Jack’s versatility as a player, his care for his teammates, and his demonstrated willingness to do whatever it takes to win, are all critical elements to our future team success,” Chris Armstrong said in a press release.

Taken in the third round of the 2018 NHL Entry Draft by the Minnesota Wild, McBain spent the next four seasons playing college hockey with the Boston College Eagles, scoring 37 goals and 49 assists for 86 points in 117 career NCAA games. His best season came in his senior year in 2021-22, scoring 19 goals and recording 14 assists for 33 points in 24 games.
