Mammoth sign Kailer Yamamoto to one-year, two-way contract

The Utah Mammoth announced Tuesday the signing of forward Kailer Yamamoto to a one-year, two-way contract.

Yamamoto spent a portion of the 2024-25 season with Utah, scoring two goals and an assist for three points in 12 regular-season games. However, he spent most of the year with their AHL affiliate, the Tucson Roadrunners, scoring 20 goals and 36 assists for 56 points in 54 regular-season games. He also had a goal in three AHL playoff games.
In 315 career NHL games, Yamamoto has recorded 60 goals and 77 assists for 137 points with Utah, the Seattle Kraken and Edmonton Oilers. In 34 career Stanley Cup Playoff games, he scored three goals and nine assists for 12 points.

Taken No. 22 overall by the Oilers in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft, Yamamoto was a highly productive player in junior with the WHL’s Spokane Chiefs, scoring 105 goals and 186 assists for 291 points in 230 career regular-season games. His best season came in 2016-17, scoring 42 goals and 57 assists for 99 points in 65 regular-season games.
Internationally, Yamamoto has represented the U.S. on a number of occasions. He helped them earn a bronze medal at the 2018 World Junior Championships, a bronze at the Under-18 World Championships in 2016 and a silver at the 2014 U-17 World Championships.
Utah finished the 2024-25 season with a 38-31-13 record and 89 points, sixth in the Central Division and seven points back of a Wild Card spot in the Western Conference. It was their first season in Utah after the Arizona Coyotes suspended their hockey operations and relocated to Salt Lake City, following the purchase from the NBA’s Utah Jazz owner Ryan Smith.
