As training camp is about to get underway, the Utah Mammoth have announced that seven players will be joining them after agreeing to professional tryout contracts.

Joining the Mammoth on PTOs will be centers Ryan McGregor and Sammy Walker; wingers Austin Poganski and Ty Tullio; defenseman Lleyton Moore; and goaltenders Dryden McKay and Dylan Wells.

All seven players will now have the opportunity to participate in training camp and preseason games with the Mammoth. However, Utah does not have their rights, as any team will be able to sign them during the preseason, but the Mammoth will have a closer look at these players.

Poganski is the player with the most NHL experience of the seven signings, playing 22 games with the St. Louis Blues and Winnipeg Jets. His most recent NHL action came in 2021-22. He’s spent the past two seasons in the Arizona Coyotes/Utah Mammoth organization, although he wasn’t signed to an NHL contract for either season. Last season he had 15 goals and 26 assists for 41 points in 71 games with the Tucson Roadrunners in the AHL.

Walker also has some NHL experience, playing 13 games with the Minnesota Wild in 2022-23 and 2023-24. He was an unrestricted free agent after the conclusion of his one-year, $775,000 contract. Last season saw him get two goals and nine assists for 11 points in 30 games with the Iowa Wild before he was dealt to Utah for future considerations in February. After that, he had eight goals and 14 assists for 22 points in 31 games with the Roadrunners.

Wells also has an NHL game under his belt, playing one for the Chicago Blackhawks in 2022-23. He’s spent the past two seasons with the Coyotes/Mammoth organization, although he wasn’t signed to an NHL contract for either season. He had a 3-3-1 record and a .900 save percentage in 10 games with the Roadrunners, as well as a 7-9-3 record and an .896 SV% in 20 games with the Allen Americans in the ECHL.
